Our Team:

Dr. Amanda has been in the health field for 20 years, specifically acupuncture for over 10 of those years. Sarah has supported the acupuncture profession for over 5 years. Their paths crossed about 2 years ago in 2021 when they organically learned about each other’s work ethic and heart for helping people. Their friendship began to grow on mid-day lunch walks where they realized how intertwined their hopes and dreams of what an acupuncture practice would look and feel like for clients with a goal centered holistic approach. The patient has always been the top priority in each of their hearts. It is an honor to serve the Hampton Roads community, come alongside each patient, and help support them through day-to-day struggles and unknowns. We work alongside each person through some of the worst chapters in their life and celebrate them during their greatest triumphs. Every patient becomes like our extended family and friends.

Dr. Amanda Marrero

Co-Owner, DACM, L.Ac., Dipl. Ac. (NCCAOM)

Growing up in a household of first responders was the spark that ignited Amanda’s fire to want to help others. So that being said, she went in a direction that felt safe and familiar and started nursing school right out of high school. Passionate about the opportunity to help others and soaking in all the new knowledge, she was right on track! But through all the excitement, another side arose, and many questions came with it. Why give medications when we can recommend a diet or lifestyle change? Why are we rushing around never getting to know the patients we are treating? Isn’t there a better way that treats the WHOLE person and not just the symptoms? That was it. Soon after, Amanda left nursing school and embarked on an adventure of finding just the right fit.

Working in mental health facilities, going to massage therapy school, struggling with ongoing digestive issues, and life’s little nudges along the way, Amanda finally was led to pursue a career in Acupuncture and Chinese medicine. She felt at home, it all made sense, and the accumulated knowledge from nursing school, mental health work, and massage therapy showed its purpose.

Along the way, Amanda has found that her gifts and passions are empowering, educating, and encouraging her patients to tap into their own innate ability to heal. She believes to the core that each patient is whole, competent, and has the ability and right to choose and live in wellness.
